Tech-gard
Water Borne Epoxy

Tech-gard Water Borne Epoxy is a two-component,low odor, water reducible acrylic epoxy ideally suited for use wherever a highly durable, stain and chemical resistant coating is desired. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications but is especially recommended forinteriors where odors from solvent base products are aproblem. While it is the nature of all epoxies to chalk on exterior exposures, TECHGARD's acrylic epoxy resin system extends and gloss retention past that of solvent based epoxies. It is available in both satin and high gloss.

Tech-gard Water Borne Epoxy exhibits excellent adhesion and will not lift most existing finishes when applied. It is outstanding as a replacement finish for conventional enamels when an exceptionally durable finish is required.

Tech-gard Water Borne Epoxy is lead and chromate free,conforms to CARB and is USDA accepted. It may used on steel, aluminum, galvanized, wood, masonry, concrete and tile and is recommended for use in:

NOTE: Not for immersion service or areas subject to standing water.

Ordering:
Available in 1 gallon kits. This will consist of BaseComponent in a 1 gallon container and Activator Component in a quart container. (Specify either gloss orsatin activator.) 5 gallon kits available in Base 1. This will consist of Base Component in a 5 gallon container and Activator Component in a 1 gallon container.

TECHNICAL DATA


TYPE: Acrylic Epoxy

COMPONENTS: two

COLORS: White, Clear and 3 tinting bases.

GLOSS: high gloss or satin

FLASH POINT: n/a

VOC: Maximum 2.09 Ibs/gal (250 g/1)

SOLIDS BY VOLUME: 35.0% (combined components)

RECOMMENDED FILM THICKNESS: 2.0 dry mils

SPREADING RATE: Approximately 300 square feet per gallon to achieve recommended dry film.

SURFACE PREPARATION: Properly primed surface should befree of all oil, grease, dirt or other contaminants and must be dry.Touch up any damaged areas of primed surface with appropriate primer. Surface must be at least 5°F (3°C) above the dew point.For mild-to-moderate environments, prepare surface inaccordance with SSPC-SP 2 or SP 3 (minimum) or SSPC-SP 6(optimum) prior to primer coat.

CONCRETE--All dirt, grease, curing compounds, waxes or other contaminants must be removed. Any old, incompatible coatings should also be removed. Prepare surface in accordance with SSPC-SP 7, Brush Off Blast Cleaning, or acid etch with muriatic acid. On porous masonry, use a Pratt & Lambert block filler to fill voids or holes to ensure a smooth surface.

MIXING: Stir each component individually, then mix the components thoroughly (4 parts Base to 1 part Activator). Allow 30 minutes induction period before using.

POT LIFE: 24 hrs.

SHELF LIFE: 2 years

APPLICATION: Conventional or airless spray, brush or roller.

DRYING TIME @ 77°F (25°F):
Set to touch................. 1 hr.
Dry to handle............... 8 hrs.
Dry to re-coat.............. 8 hrs.
Full cure....................... 1 week

PRIMER: Techgard Acrylic Metal Primer (Z190)

THINNING: For conventional spray, add 1/2 pint of water. Use "as is" for other application methods.

CLEAN UP: Warm, soapy water.
