Palgard Epoxy Coating


Palgard Epoxy is a two-component, high gloss coating formulated to provide unexcelled adhesion, abrasion resistance, durability, chemical and water resistance on exterior and interior steel, non-ferrous metals, concrete, masonry, fiberglass, wood and ceramic tile surfaces.

Palgard Epoxy has an excellent fire resistance rating and is accepted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Meat Inspection Division. It may be used in federally inspected meat packing plants and other food preparation or food storage facilities.

Palgard's high gloss finish allows for increase impermeability resulting in an extension of service life of the underlying primer.

TYPE: Epoxy Polyamide

COMPONENTS: two

COLORS: White, Black, Clear and 3 tinting bases.

FLASH POINT: 96°F (35°C) VOC: Maximum 3.5 Ibs/gal (420 g/l SOLIDS BY WEIGHT

VOLUME: 50.0%

RECOMMENDED FILM THICKNESS: 2.0 mils dry

SPREADING RATE: 400 square feet per gallon to achieve recommended film thickness.

SURFACE PREPARATION: STEEL--properly primed surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil, dirt or other contaminants. CONCRETE--remove all grease, oil, curing compounds or incompatible old coatings prior to preparation. Surface should be prepared in accordance with SSPC-SP 7, Brush-Off Blast Cleaning, or can be etched with muriatic acid solution. On porous masonry, use a Pratt & Lambert block filler to fill and level all voids. WOOD--surface should be clean, dry and free of contaminants. Palgard can be applied directly to wood substrate without a primer.

NOTE: It is the nature of all epoxies to exhibit chalking over time in exterior exposures. However, adhesion, abrasion resistance, durability, chemcial or water resistance remains excellent.

MIXING: Using mechanical agitation, mix Base Component and Activator Component 1 to 1 by volume. Allow 1 hour induction period.

POT LIFE: 12 hours.

SHELF LIFE: 2 years

APPLICATION: Conventional or airless spray, brush or roller.

DRYING TIME @ 77°F (25°C): Set to touch 3 hours.Dry to re-coat 16 hours.

PRIMER: Poxy-gard RIP (S3301), Poxy-gard HB Epoxy Mastic (S3508),
Steeltec Universal Primer (S3206, S3207)

THINNING: DO NOT THIN.

CLEANUP: Lacquer Thinner
