PRODUCT INFORMATION
Endu-thane
High Build Urethane (S28-line)
Endu-thane High Build Urethane is a durable, high gloss urethane
coating that combines superb corrosion and chemical resistance with the
attractiveness of high gloss coatings. When used with the recommended epoxy
or zinc rich epoxy primer, Endu-thane topcoats provide outstanding resistance
to:
ABRASION: Excellent resistance and good inter-coat adhesion.
SOLVENTS: Excellent resistance to splash and spillage of many
organic solvents including xylene, alcohols, gasoline, oils and mineral spirits.
FRESH & SALT WATER: Excellent resistance in coastal and marine
environments.
ACIDS & ALKALIES: Excellent resistance to splash and spillage.
Endu-thane's high build properties mean economy. In a 10 mil thick
system, all that is needed is one coat of a suitable primer and one coat
of Endu-Thane High Build Urethane.
Endu-thane, unlike conventional urethane finishes, has increased
durability in regard to weathering and gloss retention.
Recommended Uses:
Endu-thane is suggested for use on tanks, transportation equipment and other
equipment and structures in chemical plants and manufacturing facilities.
It is especially recommended when an attractive appearance is of particular
importance.
Temperature Resistance: 300°F (149°C) dry heat
Kit Description: 5 GALLON KIT: Base Component (S28-line) is 4.29
gallons (16.73liters) in a 5 gallon container. Activator Component (S2898)
is 90.9 fluid ounces(2.69 liters) in a 1 gallon container.1 GALLON KIT:
Base Component (S28-line) is 110 fluid ounces (3.25liters) in a 1 gallon
container. Activator Component (S2898) is 18 fluid ounces (532milliliters)
in a quart can.
TECHNICAL DATA
TYPE: Polyurethane
COMPONENTS: two
COLORS: White, Black, Clear and tinting bases.
GLOSS: high
FLASH POINT: 28°F (-2°C)
SOLIDS BY VOLUME: 60% (approximate) VOC: maximum 3.5Ibs/gal (420
g/1) after thinning
RECOMMENDED FILM THICKNESS: 4-6 dry mils (100-150 microns)
SPREADING RATE: Theoretical is 160 square feet per gallon for
6 mils dry film or 241 square feet per gallon for 4 mils dry film thickness.
SURFACE PREPARATION: Apply over recommended Pratt &Lambert
primer or approved equivalent. Surfaces must be clean, dry and at least 5°F
(3°C) above the dew point. Old, well cured coatings should be randomly
spot tested for compatibility.
MIXING: Add 1 part Activator Component (S2898) to 6 parts Base
Component (S28-line). Mix well and use immediately.
POT LIFE: 6 hrs. @ 77°F (25°C)
SHELF LIFE: 1 year @ 40°-90°F (4°-32°C)
APPLICATION: Brush, roller or spray. If roller applied, use a
quality Lamb's Wool 1/4" Nap Roller and after mixing base and activator
components, add 10% by volume of Endu-Thane brush and roller additive (S2822)
to the activated material while agitating. Should be applied with a minimum
air temperature of 40°F (4°C). DO NOT apply when surface temperature
is less than 5°C (3°C) above the dew point.
Suggested spray equipment:
CONVENTIONAL--DeVilbiss MBC-510 gun with "E" fluid tip and
#64 air cap. Adjust pressure as needed.
AIRLESS--28:1 or 30:1 ration pump with .015 to .019 tip. Adjust pressure
as needed.
DRY TIME: @ 77°F (25°C) & 50% Relative Humidity:
To touch....................1 hr.
To handle...................6 hrs.
PRIMERS: Steeltec OZR Primer (S3297), Poxy-gard Rust Inhibitive
Primer (S3301) or Poxy-gard HB Epoxy MasticPrimer (S3508)
THINNING: No reduction necessary for brush or roller. Normally
not reqired for airless spray, however, may use a maximum of 5% Thinner
(S6682) per gallon of paint. For Conventional Spray, may thin with Thinner
(S6682) up to 10% per gallon of paint.
CLEAN UP: Thinner Blend (S6682)
