Patina Aging Solutions & Metallic Paints

(For creating verdigris finishes)

Patina Aging Solutions (green, blue or black) used with our metal effects paints # ME 148 Pale Gold, #ME 149 Copper, #ME 157 Rich Gold or WE 184 Harvest Gold. Use this system for creating a real aged patina metal -surface. Use on plaster, masonry, wood, metal, canvas, paper etc.

Step # 1:

Paint your surface with an appropriate primer, if working on steel or other metal surfaces use an epoxy metal primer. This will seal the surface and keep it from rusting through.

Step # 2:

After your primer is cured, you are now ready to paint your base coat of metallic paint. Note* when using our Patina Aging Solutions you must use one of the following metallic paints (copper metallic #ME 149, Pale Gold metallic #ME 148, Rich Gold #ME 157 or Harvest gold metallic #ME 184). The Patina Aging Solutions will only work with these three products. Allow metallic base coat to fully dry.

Step # 3:

Apply a second coat of your metallic paint and while this coat is still wet (within 10 - 15 minutes) apply the Patina Aging Solution of your choice (green, blue or black). Apply with a sponge, spray bottle or attach our spritzer cap #SP 120 directly to your 4 oz. or 16 oz bottle and spray, (Note* use caution when working with Patina Aging Solution - wear a mask, gloves an( goggles).

Step # 4:

Sealing your project is optional - if you do not seal your project the natural patina on the surface can come off on your hands, clothing etc. Use our metal effects #AM 200 clear matte acrylic varnish. Apply varnish with a soft brush or spray.

Step # 3:

Now apply your second coat of "Iron" paint and wait for it to dry about 2 to 3 hours depending on the weather.
