Faux Finishing Classes

   Steve Austin is a decorative painting contractor based in Southern California, with over 25 years of experience in all aspects of the painting trade. Although he's been involved in virtually every type of painting, his business is now focused upon decorative painting and faux finishes for residential and commercial clients, as well as background painting for television, motion pictures, and theme parks. His evolution from house painter to decorative artist began with a solid foundation in the basics of the trade. He completed an apprenticeship program prior to achieving journeyman status, and became a licensed contractor in 1983 (CA license #448992). He's been called upon as an industry expert by major corporations and military installations to specify and apply technical coatings, and is certified in the abatement of lead paint. Combining Old World techniques with modern day products and innovation, Steve blends the efficiency of a reliable contractor with the finesse of an artist to create a style that's all his own.

In addition to running a busy decorative painting business, Steve conducts instructional seminars and is a frequent guest speaker for decorative arts and interior design programs. His work has been featured in several magazines and newspapers, and he's performed demonstrations on television. He also wrote, hosted, and served as executive producer on the video, "It's A Wonder-Faux®Life"(TM)

May 7, 2005: Introduction to Faux Finishing Workshop

This is an all day, hands-on introduction to faux finishing and decorative painting. Learn the basics of interior painting, plus several of today's most popular paint finishes. Students will make sample boards of their work to keep for their own portfolios. This popular workshop fills up fast, and enrollment is limited to 12 students per class.
